Pricing for vendors

Two numbers decide what selling here costs you: the plan, which sets how many products you may list, and the settlement tier, which sets the commission and what the buyer is guaranteed.

1. Monthly plans

Billed monthly. The plan sets your listing limit and the tools on your store page.

Plan prices are quoted in US dollars because that is how they are held in the system; you are charged the shilling equivalent at the rate shown at checkout. Everything a buyer sees on the marketplace is priced in UGX.

2. Commission, by settlement tier

Commission is charged on completed sales only, and it depends on how the money moves rather than on which plan you are on. A stronger guarantee for the buyer costs more, because the platform is carrying more of the risk.

Escrow — 15%. The buyer pays into escrow and the money is released to you only once delivery is confirmed. Buyers see the strongest protection badge, which is what makes a first-time customer willing to order from a shop they have never visited.

Facilitated — 9%. We handle the payment and the payout but hold funds for a shorter window. A middle position: lower commission, a narrower guarantee for the buyer.

Direct — 3%. You take payment directly and the platform only lists you. The cheapest option and the only one with no verification requirement — and the one where a dispute is between you and the buyer.

3. What you are not charged for

  • Listing a product that does not sell.
  • Receiving or replying to customer messages.
  • A cancelled order, or one refunded before dispatch.
  • The delivery itself — the rider’s fee is paid by the buyer at checkout.

Questions about cost

Is there a fee to list a product that does not sell?
No. The monthly plan covers how many products you may list; commission is charged only on a completed sale.
Can I change plan later?
Yes, at any time. Moving down a plan will ask you to unpublish products above the new limit before it takes effect.
Why does commission differ between vendors?
It follows the settlement tier, not the plan. A vendor selling under full escrow carries the strongest buyer guarantee and pays the highest commission for it; a vendor settling directly pays the least and carries the risk themselves.
What does the buyer pay?
The item price and the delivery fee. There is no buyer-side platform fee — the commission comes out of the vendor’s side of the transaction.
When am I paid?
Once the buyer confirms delivery with their one-time code, the payout is released to your mobile-money account. Every movement is visible in the vendor dashboard ledger.
