About ArcardeMall

ArcardeMall is a marketplace for one district. Not a national platform that happens to deliver to Luweero — a market built around how trade already works here, and what it needs to work online.

1. Why a marketplace for one district

Most e-commerce in Uganda is built for Kampala and reaches everywhere else as an afterthought: delivery estimates in days, payment methods most people do not hold, and sellers who have to ship to a city to reach a buyer two villages away.

Trade in Luweero is already dense, already local, and already fast. What it lacks is not demand — it is a way for a buyer to find a seller they have not met, and a way for both to trust a transaction neither can see completed. That is the problem this platform is built around, and it is why the district boundary is a feature rather than a limitation.

2. Three sides, not two

A marketplace usually connects buyers and sellers. Here the rider is the third side, with an account, a dashboard and a share of every delivery — because in practice the boda-boda is the logistics network, and treating that as an afterthought is what makes same-day delivery fail.

  • Buyers pay with mobile money, card, bank transfer or cash on delivery, and are protected by escrow on most orders.
  • Vendors — shops, market stalls, artisans and farmers — list what they have and are paid to a mobile-money account once delivery is confirmed.
  • Riders take assigned deliveries, confirm handover with a one-time code from the buyer, and are paid per completed trip.

3. What is different about it

  • Escrow by default. Money moves when the goods do. A buyer ordering from a shop they have never visited is not taking the whole risk alone.
  • Harvest sold before it is picked. Farmers list a lot against the crop calendar and take reservations pre-harvest, at a fixed price or by auction — so the planting decision is made against a real order book instead of a guess.
  • Group buying. When enough neighbours commit to the same product, a wholesale price unlocks for all of them. Nobody is charged until the target is reached.
  • Prices in shillings. UGX is the currency of the marketplace, with other currencies shown for reference, not the other way round.

4. Who operates it

ArcardeMall is operated by Omega Nodes Company Ltd, incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act, 2012, based in Luweero, Luweero District, Uganda. The same company builds and runs the payment and escrow infrastructure the marketplace settles through.
